AP Studio Art —
Artist Profile: Christen Ripley

AP ArtworkQ: Where did the idea for the piece come from? How was the piece developed? Was it a part of a series or an ongoing interest?

A: I often using my squirmy little brother as a model when he is completely still, while he's asleep. This piece led me to a series of sleeping portraits.

Q: What medium/media did you use? In which section of the portfolio did you submit it?

A: The medium of this piece is acrylic on paper and was part of the Quaility section of my Drawing Portfolio.

Q: Did the piece involve any particular challenges or difficulties?

A: During the process of making this piece, my brother moved several times while he was asleep, which changed the composition.

Q: Did you study art long before taking AP?

A: Before taking AP I was involved in middle school and high school art magnet programs in my county, which focus more on the arts.

Q: What are your plans for the future? What are you doing now?

A: I plan to go to a four-year college or university and major in fine art, painting and sculpture. After college I hope to paint murals and seek ways to reach more people than just the gallery audience.
