Michele Lynn took this photograph -- "The Ceiling" -- when she visited colleges
in New York City. "I focused on the mirrored ceiling with the clear lights hanging
from it and caught the image of two people walking on the patterned floor." When
Michele entered West Chester East High School, West Chester, PA, she wasn't sure which
course to select. "I always enjoyed drawing and painting, but what the Photo I
class offered was a chance to try something new and different. "It opened my eyes to
the importance and beauty of art."
During Michele's high school years, she was president of the NAHS, attended the
Governor's School for the Arts, and did work-study at a local camera shop. Also, Michele
went to college portfolio days and received constructive comments and suggestions on how
to improve on her portfolio. "I knew that I needed to include more drawings and
paintings for AP Studio Art, so I attended Saturday morning classes at Moore College of
Art in Philadelphia in the fall and spring of my senior year."
About her art, Michele observes, "I attribute my accomplishments to hard
work, dedication, and the support and encouragement of my teachers, parents, and friends.
As a photographer and artist, I will always be learning about creativity, developing
ideas, and perfecting technical skills."
Michele is currently a sophomore at Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore,
MD. Her camera is always with her in hopes of "capturing a beautiful moment and
inspiring others to look harder and longer at the world around them." |
