"The information is great. You get a lot of ideas from people and it's a good cross-section of the country, of the world really."
Judith McNeill
Associate Principal, Curriculum and Instruction
George Walton High School, Marietta, Georgia
"Yesterday I went to a preconference session for administration and growing your AP program with Scott Van Beck. It was excellent! I've been active with the College Board since the late 1980s. One of the reasons Walton is respected and has excelled is because we have been using College Board programs since the late 80s. We depend on the College Board to come up with creative ideas for us."
Patricia E. Brake
Administrator, Director of Outreach and Special Programs, History teacher
Episcopal School of Knoxville, Tennessee
"I did a presentation this morning. There was a fabulous group of teachers at my presentation. My presentation was on middle school history bridging to AP. I discussed different strategies that middle school teachers and students use to engage about learning history. I discussed strategies that teachers can use to prepare students for AP, and it was very pleasant for me because there was such great interaction on the part of the other teachers. I felt like I came away from my own session learning a lot from the other teachers. That was really fun for me. I just heard a fantastic talk by Taylor Branch. I'm looking forward to purchasing his book.
Everyone has been so helpful and so friendly. The degree of professionalism with AP is so high. I've been reading AP U.S. History Exams for many years. It's so organized. They have over 800 teachers who read AP U.S. History Exams. Everything goes like clockwork. It's amazing. I'm seeing the same thing here as well. Everyone has been so helpful and pleasant."
Gary C. Record
Principal
Performing Arts School, Chattanooga, Tennessee
"It's my first time attending the conference. My former guidance counselor attended the conference a number of years ago and recommended it. One of our school goals is to expand our AP programs, and I came to get more of a perspective about how to increase our program and strengthen it. All the sessions I've been to were very helpful, with lots of practical information. Two were outstanding and I just, left one about how to conduct a mock AP exam period. It was an eye opening experience."
Julie Hocutt
Teacher, AP English Literature, AP English Language
PSuwannee High School, Florida
"My experience at the conference has been wonderful, as always. This is the third conference I've been to, and each year it's so wonderful. The people are great. I thought this year's sessions had more diversity, which I was glad to see. Right now I'm attending the AP Seminar on Teaching Fiction with Robert DiYanni. He is entertaining as well as informative. There is a lot of group participation. That's why I come to the College Board workshops, to hear what other people have to say, not just one person. It's very interactive."
Heather Blair
Academic Dean and AP Coordinator
Harker School, San Jose, California
"I attended a daylong workshop on legal and ethical implications of counseling students. That was very interesting. It gave me some great things to bring back to our school counselors and our college counselors, as well as some interesting things to toss around to some of the teachers."
George Wise
Teacher AP U.S. History and AP European History
Eleanor Roosevelt High School, CA
"I am going to be a first-year teacher of both AP U.S. History and AP European History. I've already learned a ton of things to take back to my classroom. Everything that we've done has been very hands-on activity that you can specifically do in the classroom during the first week. There were a lot of other things, specific advice on how many times you should use certain lessons, which is all very useful.
Jennifer Perrella

"I thought Dr. Wilson's presentation was great and it very entertaining. It gave me some great information and some things I want to take back to my students. And, I loved the slides."
Evelyn Esmailka

"I wish my principal had attended and that more people had come from the district; especially since we're in the planning stages. My job is to go back and spread the word on the options and all the good benefits of having AP courses."
Nancy Hjort

"This is a great networking opportunity. I'm getting e-mails from people that I met at the last conference. I'm making new friends this time, and we will also share information."
Jean Griego-Incitti

"There is a lot of information from schools that have been doing some fantastic things. A lot of best practices being shared and a lot of ideas to be brought back to the school."
Rosemary Winn
Visual Communications Art and Design Teacher
Dekalb High School of Technology North, Georgia
"It's been very organized, exciting, fun, and great information. I greatly enjoyed the art exhibit last night and the reception. As with all College Board workshops that I've been to, the people that present them are always exceptional.
I just think the conference opens doors to so many other aspects of teaching your class. You learn so much just from being in the workshops with other people."
Mary Friend
College Coordinator/AP Coordinator
Blue Valley Northwest High School, Overland Park, Kansas
"I am just really impressed. When I first walked in and saw all of the organization, the planning, signs, materials, displays and the exhibits, I thought, my God, it must have taken the College Board months and months to plan and put all of this together. It just wows you. I've been to many conferences before. I would say that this is probably the best AP conference that I have attended thus far. Yesterday, I did the daylong session on Instructional Leadership Strategies Promoting Excellence and Equity in Advanced Placement courses. Ann Marie Clinton was the presenter. I thought she did an outstanding job. The exchange with colleagues was tremendous. We really had the opportunity to get into discussions about teachers and personalities, AP, and equal access for students. It was wonderful. I just didn't want to leave. I mean it. I truly did not want to leave. I enjoyed it that much."
