About the AP National Conference 2005
The annual Advanced Placement National Conference (APNC) is the only national professional conference that targets the AP® and Pre-AP® communities. The APNC's main purpose is to provide information and resources on the Advanced Placement Program®, which serves as a cooperative educational endeavor between secondary schools, colleges, and universities. Counted among the AP community are more than 110,000 teachers who lead 35 AP courses in 20 subject areas in high schools across the United States and the world, in addition to middle school teachers of varying disciplines. More than 60 percent of U.S. high schools participate in the AP Program at present.
In 2004, the AP National Conference drew over 2,700 members from the AP and K-16 communities during four days of workshops, panel discussions, presentations, and exhibits. The 2005 APNC promises to be a banner event as the AP Program celebrates its fiftieth anniversary, and a new language course—Italian—is introduced as the first of a suite of four new language offerings. The conference will be held in the booming, multicultural city of Houston, Texas, at the Hilton Americas-Houston hotel and the George R. Brown Convention Center. The sponsorship and exhibitor packages described in this prospectus will provide expanded opportunities for organizations to showcase their products and services and to interact with decision-makers from the K-16 communities.
