Tips to help you make the most of the online course at your school

Implementation Idea

Reduce Anxiety, Increase Confidence
In addition to presenting students with questions just like the ones they'll see on the SAT®, The Official SAT Online Course™ also allows students to practice under real-world testing conditions.

While the flexibility of the course ensures that every school can implement the program in its own unique way, here's one example of how teachers can use the course to prepare students for test day: Have students take at least one official full-length practice test in class under timed conditions. This will give students a sense of what test day will actually be like, and will help alleviate anxiety as test day approaches.

If you can't set aside enough time to have students take an entire practice test in one sitting, do what Barbara Bailey, at Cambridge-South Dorchester High School, does: Have students complete several sections one day, and finish the remainder on the next. The key is to have students work on the practice tests under conditions that closely resemble the conditions they'll face on test day.

"It's like the dress rehearsal before a play," says Irma Maxwell, instructional coach at Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Florida. "It really cuts down on test anxiety, and it enhances their self-confidence—and their ability to succeed."

Tech Tip

How do educators register?
To register for The Official SAT Online Course, educators need a school code and an activation code.
The school code is the same for students and educators.
The activation code is unique to each educator and can only be used once.
When entering the activation code, make sure to enter it in uppercase.
Once the online course validates the activation code and school code, you will be prompted to set up an account.
If additional educators at your school wish to access the online course, the College Board will provide additional codes, upon request.
