A low-cost, but efficient option is the New York Airport Service, which offers direct bus service from the airport to Port Authority (just a few blocks south of the hotel) for $12 one way or $21 round trip.

The most economical way to reach Manhattan is to ride the M-60 public bus (there are no luggage facilities on this bus) to 116th Street and Broadway, across from Columbia University. From there, you can transfer to the 1 subway to Midtown. Alternatively, you can take Bus Q-48 to the Main Street subway station in Flushing, where you can transfer to the 7 train. Allow at least 90 minutes for the entire trip to Midtown.
Taxis charge a flat fee of $40 plus tolls (which may be as much as $4) to Manhattan only, and take 35-60 minutes. Prices are $20-55 for trips to other locations in New York City. You should also tip the driver.

The cheapest means of getting to Manhattan is to take the AirTrain, which costs $5 and stops at all terminals, to the Howard Beach subway station (the subway is $2 per ride), where you can catch the A train into Manhattan; be sure to take the A train marked Far Rockaway or Rockaway Park, not Lefferts Blvd.
Taxis to Manhattan cost about $60 plus tolls ($10) and take 20-45 minutes. "Share and Save" group rates are available for up to four passengers between 8 a.m. and 12 midnight; make arrangements with the airport's taxi dispatcher.
The Newark Liberty Airport Express bus provides reliable and convenient service between Newark Liberty International Airport and Midtown and Lower Manhattan every 15 to 30 minutes. You can also take New Jersey Transit's AirTrain to connect with NJ Transit. When you fly into the airport, after claiming your baggage, you check a NJ TRANSIT train departure monitor in any of the airport terminals (A, B, or C) to determine which train to take to your destination or to make appropriate connections. From there, you can catch PATH Trains (Phone: (800) 234-7284, www.pathrail.com), which run to Manhattan. The trains run every 10 minutes on weekdays, every 15-30 minutes on weeknights, and every 20-30 minutes on weekends. Trains stop at five stops along 6th Avenue-Christopher Street, 9th Street, 14th Street, 23rd Street, and 33rd Street.
Amtrak trains from points across the United States arrive at Penn Station (W. 31st to W. 33rd Sts., between 7th and 8th Aves.). For trains from New York City to Long Island and New Jersey, take the Long Island Rail Road and New Jersey Transit, respectively; both operate from Penn Station.
Metro-North Commuter Railroad trains take passengers from Grand Central Terminal (E. 42nd St. at Park Ave.) to points north of New York City, both in New York State and Connecticut.
