California Community College System Endorses CLEP

The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges — the largest higher education system in the nation, with 112 colleges and nearly three million enrolled students — has endorsed a policy providing guidelines for the use of College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP®) exams as the basis for awarding general education credit.

A similar policy was established by the California State University system in May 2010.

Research Study: Graduation Rates Enhanced with CLEP

In April 2011, the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning released research findings on prior learning assessment (PLA) programs like CLEP.

The study proves that underserved students who earn credit through PLA have higher degree completion rates and shorter time to degree than non-PLA students.
