Supporting Military Service Members: DANTES Renews Contract

The Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) recently renewed a five-year contract with the College Board to continue funding CLEP exam fees for active military service members, eligible military spouses and civilian employees on the first attempt per exam title. The contract also includes testing services to active military service members for the SAT.

CLEP has started the process of sending out the 2011-2012 Summary Reports to institutions that request them. The report includes your institution, state and national test-taker data, exams administered and much more.

Recognizing High-Volume International Test Centers

CLEP wants to recognize the University of Maryland University College and Central Texas College in Germany for administering the most CLEP exams in 2011–2012, and, more importantly, for their commitment to promoting access to higher education for all students. Both institutions sponsor test centers on military bases in Europe, Asia and the continental United States.

CLEP on Univision: Testimonial from Former Service Member

Univision aired a CLEP testimonial story from a former military member, Carlos Paillacar, on Monday, Oct. 8. Carlos retired from 21 years of service in the Coast Guard to pursue his education. He received 12 credits for successfully passing a CLEP Spanish exam this summer (and an additional 13 credits from Miami Dade College), and enrolled at Berry College as a sophomore with 25 credits and $12,000 in savings thanks to CLEP.
