Services for Students with Disabilities

What You and Your Child Need to Know

The College Board is committed to serving students with disabilities. We provide services and reasonable accommodations appropriate to each student's disability and the purpose of the exam.

Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) provides Advanced Placement Program® (AP®), PSAT/NMSQT® and SAT® testing accommodations for students who have documented disabilities. Only one SSD Student Eligibility Form has to be submitted to request accommodations on all College Board tests (AP, PSAT/NMSQT and SAT). With limited exceptions, once approved for accommodations, your child does not have to apply again when taking subsequent tests.

The review process is very thorough and can take time. Be sure to talk to your child early about identifying the right accommodations, submitting appropriate documentation and meeting all deadlines.

Talk With Your Child's Counselor

Your child's counselor can guide you and your child through this process. The counselor can help you work with the school's SSD Coordinator to request accommodations online. Parents must complete a consent form as part of this process.

Parents can also request accommodations without the assistance of the school. To do so, request an SSD Student Eligibility Form from your child’s school counselor and submit it to SSD at the College Board. Visit the SSD Contact Us page for contact information.
