Advanced Placement Program® (AP®)

How will I know if I am approved to take the AP exams with accommodations?

If you have been approved to take a nonstandard-format exam, your SSD Coordinator will receive a preprinted College Board SSD Advanced Placement Program Roster/Order form in February. The AP Coordinator may need to make sure that the SSD Coordinator has received this Roster and that the necessary nonstandard-format exams have been ordered. If you have received accommodations from the College Board but are not listed on this Roster, ask your school to include you on the Roster.

If I have approved accommodations, can I choose not to test with accommodations?

Yes. If you decide prior to the beginning of the exam to test without the approved accommodations (e.g., extended time), inform the proctor of your decision before the start of the exam. If you are under age 18, you need to provide your school, prior to exam day, a signed statement from a parent or guardian acknowledging this waiver.

How do I receive accommodations if I have a temporary disability?

If you suffer a temporary disability (e.g., broken arm) you may request testing accommodations in order to complete the exam. Your SSD Coordinator should contact the College Board at (609)771-7137 to request the AP Temporary Disability Accommodation Request Form. The College Board will fax the form to the school. After the form has been completed by the school, your parents and your physician, fax it back to the College Board for review. The College Board will determine the appropriate accommodations for you and notify your school.
