Real Deal

You should definitely visit schools you plan to attend. I fell in love with East Texas Baptist University when I visited it. The admission officer explained how to fill out an application and financial aid forms. She answered every question I asked.

Historically Black Colleges and Universities

Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) find their origins in the time when African American students were systematically denied access to most other colleges and universities. Students at HBCUs have a unique opportunity to experience an educational community in which they are a part of the majority.

Types of Colleges

You'll find a range of schools and programs, from highly competitive, four-year universities to two-year colleges with open admissions. And while many HBCUs are in the south, a number of them are in Pennsylvania and Ohio. HBCUs offer all students, regardless of race, an opportunity to develop their skills and talents.
