AP®

Norway

All universities and university colleges in Norway recognize AP Exam scores in the admissions process. Applicants with a U.S. high school diploma and at least three AP Exam scores of 3 or higher fulfill the general entrance requirements to undergraduate degree programs.

The candidate can choose the AP Exam regardless of content area.

If the Norwegian study program has special requirements in specific subjects from upper secondary school, the AP Exams must cover these subjects.

The following special requirements can be covered by these AP Exams:

  • Fysikk 2 (physics from third-grade level in upper secondary school): AP Physics B or Physics C
  • Kjemi 2 (chemistry from third-grade level in upper secondary school): AP Chemistry
  • Biologi 2 (biology from third-grade level in upper secondary school): AP Biology

Applicants must submit certified copies of the following documents:

  • Official AP Score Report
  • High school graduation diploma
  • Official transcript from all four years of high school with all relevant course subjects, credits and cumulative grade point average (if GPA is not included within the official transcript, please enclose supplementary certification on high school letterhead)
  • Transcript of record of college/university attended (if applicable)

Note: If the certificate/diploma/transcript from college/university has information on the back page, always remember to send in this page, too.

Some institutions in Norway, such as university colleges of art, architecture or music, have entrance exams.

Students can find more information about general requirements, deadlines and guidelines of how to apply for higher education in Norway at www.samordnaopptak.no. There one can also find addresses and phone numbers for all the universities and university colleges.

It is necessary to have a good working knowledge of the Norwegian language (or another Scandinavian language) for admission to programs that are conducted in Norwegian.
