Making Changes
You can make corrections to your personal information, such as your address and high school code. No fee applies to such corrections. Due to security concerns, you must call the SAT Program to alter the name or social security number on your record.
Changing your Test Center, Test Date, or Test Type
There is an additional fee if you are registered for a test and want to change the test center, test date, or which test you registered to take. To be assured of a seat on test day, you must make your request no later than the Wednesday that is two and one-half weeks before the test date.
- A credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover Card) is required to pay the fee. Be ready to provide your credit card number and expiration date.
- Changes to your test center or test date can be made online through your free account or by calling Customer Service.
- To change your test type, you must call Customer Service.
- Try to avoid the busiest day (Monday), the busiest hours (3 to 6 p.m.), and registration deadline dates.
- Be ready to provide your registration number and test date, as well as credit card information.
If you miss the deadline for making a change, you can still try to make the change on the day of the test. Go early to the test center of your choice and explain the situation to the test supervisor. If space and materials are available, you will be admitted before standbys. You will be billed for the change fee.
Notes About Changes
Test Center Change
If your first- or second-choice test center is not listed on your Admission Ticket, the center you requested when you registered was probably full. Therefore, you were assigned to the next closest available test center.
Test Date Change/Absence on Test Day
If you were absent from a test for which you registered and want to test on another date, call Customer Service to transfer to a later date.
Test Change
You can change your test from the SAT to SAT Subject Tests™ or from SAT Subject Tests to the SAT if you pay the change fee.
There is no charge for changing from one SAT Subject Test to a different SAT Subject Test. If you want to substitute one SAT Subject Test for another, you should do that at the test center. You may substitute any SAT Subject Tests offered except the Language Tests with Listening. You cannot change to a listening test on test day because test centers must retain any extra CDs in case they are needed to replace defective CDs for registered test-takers. If you want to change to a listening test or from one listening test to another, you must do so by the late registration deadline or three weeks before the test date, if testing internationally.
