Formatting Requirements

You must follow all formatting requirements to ensure that your entry qualifies for the YES Competition. These formatting requirements apply to all sections of the project.

You must upload your report as a Microsoft Word document and follow these specifications:

  • Maximum of 30 pages and 18 MB, including figures, graphics, tables, title page, acknowledgement page, abstract page, and references
  • 1-inch margins all around
  • Double-spaced
  • Formatted to print on 8 ½ x 11 inch paper, single-sided
  • 12-point type, Arial font
  • Place captions below pictures and graphs. You may use 10-point type and single spacing for captions and references.
  • Number all pages beginning with the title page.
  • Follow American Psychological Association (APA) style for references. For example, use the author-date format when using references within the body of your report: e.g., "as Roberts (1990) notes, a recent study (Roberts, 1990) illustrates…" For more information, refer to the APA Publication Manual (5th ed., 2001).
  • Every reference cited in your text—and only those references cited in your text—must appear in alphabetical order on the reference list at the end of your report.
