Prerequisites: students should have basic knowledge of algebra an understanding of elementary measures of disease frequency, measures of association and the cohort study design.
Summary: This unit illustrates the value of knowing the risk that is attributable to a specific exposure and introduced students to the methods for calculating and interpreting attributable risks.
Students will also be able to calculate attributable risks to assess the fraction of the risk due to exposure and predict the impact on the incidence of disease when a causal risk factor is removed.
